There are 12 days left until (and including) Halloween. We suggested the campy, fun sweet, silly and incredibly entertaining Hocus Pocus yesterday and our suggestion for today sends you back to the ’90s. The Nightmare Before Christmas was released in 1993 and is a favorite of Tim Burton fans. It is perfect for getting young and old in the mood for the season by combining Halloween and Christmas (the Easter bunny also makes a brief appearance). The story follows Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town, who is not content with the same-old, same-old. He unwittingly discovers Christmas Town and decides to give “Sandy Claws” a day off. Even Jack’s blossoming love, Sally, can’t convince him to stop his antics so the residents of Halloween Town take over Christmas, much to the horror of parents of children. This has to be one of the most popular stop-motion films still around today. The unique story, the visuals, and the songs, especially the songs. You can’t go wrong and it’s just what Dr. Finklestein suggests to get you in the mood. Disney, ABC Family, Netflix, your DVD or, dare I say it, VHS, copy…just watch it.
